"mes rêves entoilés, mes rêves étoilés…"
My artwork evokes imaginary labyrinths in a chaotic and disorganised world ; my works can serve as a kind of therapy, restoring order in a world of confusion. I think an artwork should have a purpose ; at least, that is what I am searching for in my drawings, my "architectures".
I like creating imaginary cities. My drawings are meditations : meditations on what is real and what is unreal. If we look fixedly, almost obsessionally, at these patterns, we can lose ourselves, hope to find a way out, through a form or a colour, only to lose ourselves again in another geometric illusion.
We may seem to be imprisoned in this geometry, but we alone can find the "oxygen", the way out. Because my art is never closed in on itself : I always leave a solution open, a potential exit.
The exit is often placed at the top of the drawing. Is this space an orientation towards the "divine" ?
I am searching for an elsewhere, an ecstasy - in order, not in disorder and chaos.
I am protecting myself from a disturbing outside world, with my straight lines and sensual curves.
Surely this results, unconsciously, from my training as an architectural draftsman. In fact I am not only drawing but constructing and building cities and worlds : fortresses for our endangered souls. Each art piece has its own universe of colour. A puzzle, a labyrinth, monochrome, polychrome. My quest is always this fragile line between balance and perdition, or the search for balance through perdition.
I am searching for peace of mind, geometric and symbolic peace, to be at home. I am drawing the plan of the house, of the ideal city, dreamed of and yet unreal. So our souls can circulate freely there, because liberty is always determined by space. This space, I have tried to create here for you.
Welcome to my City, welcome Home !
